Element Life
США
Добавлен 9 дек 2015
Hey everyone! I'm Nate. I started this journey in 2016 in a self-built Honda Element camper. Since then, I've upgraded campers (a few times), traveled across North America, and met some amazing people along the way. I have been inspired to live my dream life and I hope to inspire others to get out there and live free!
I'm very passionate about minimalism and affordably living a nomadic lifestyle. In addition to travel videos, this channel features camper conversions and off grid living in the high desert. I invite you to follow along as I learn and explore this beautiful continent from coast to coast.

Who actually goes around shutting tailgates? Ugh ppl and if you do why are you touching what isn’t urs…lastly he provided a solution. Good build
It's 111 degrees here In Salton sea California
dude, please consider getting a few more solar panels and installing a small A/C unit. Even a 5 or 8k BTU units would MASSIVELY improve your interior conditions.
Thanks for mentioning it in degree celcius. Not like other youtubers who talk totally in farhenheit
Very nice
I've been remodeling mobile homes for about 5 years now. Everything from demo to electrical framing and flooring. My best advice I could give you for the camper builds in the back of the trucks is try to make the front a little more aerodynamic maybe try steaming and bending wood and putting very thin plywood or fiberglass and mold the front to say the roof of the truck and your gas mileage will be almost the same as it was stock I'll be keeping an eye out for your next build. 🙏
Ceiling fans really help
Are u married?😊
Welcome to REZ life bro.
Heating in plastic bags …, doesnt the plastic melt into the food?
Isn't it dangerous living in that place?
shutters for windows
I know id be pruning and feeding/watering those scrub trees, to eventually make them bigger for shade.
I love your thought process in these videos
Thanks for sharing! You can live just about anywhere on this planet but what do you do out there?
You know what you could do? Make the back half of the fridge stick outside of the house, that way, the radiator is radiating heat outside the house and not contributing to heating it.
Must be nice living in such a cold place where opening the windows is meant to cool down your house
wear compression sleeves and legs and make them wet. as the wind and heat hits you they turn to ice, neck and spray bottle
turn water into ice over night and keep the blocks high in your house during the day
why not put a canopy over your roof and siding? it's like being under an umbrella or a tree. and keeping white umbrella and pools of water as the water vapor will keep the area cool
Underground
what kind of man can't pay an electric bill?! or buy a house
Living in Arizona; when winter rolls around I completely forget about the 100 degree weather that will blast me in the face as soon as summer rolls back in.
I’d love to see you neighbors adobe homes. Would they mind you posting?
Hahah thats hot then what about 48 degrees in our village it is 48 degree now a days and high humidity
Canada often gets over plus 40 c and below minus 50 c
Windows and doors open through the night will cool the mass. As soon as the temp starts to come up outside, close it up until the interior temp matches the exterior. Then open everything up for airflow.
1a. Have electricity 1b. Have AC Cool video though. But what I don't understand is why do you live off grid and yet still have a computer and fridge and stuff? Part of being human is making nature and our environment bend to our will. Why fight it?
I have two huge concerns: 1: Omg you need to paint that tiny house white as fast as you can! Darker colors absorb more heat from the sun and the walls get warmer as a result, which tends to find it's way inside. Don't just rely on the insulation to do all the work! I would also silvercoat the roof, which reflects heat back up to the sky, again keeping the roof and attic cooler.. 2: The corrugated tin on the house really scares me. If you touch that when the sun hits it, can you even keep your hand on it? It must get terribly hot. Again, the concern is that the hot metal siding heats up the walls and that heat then finds its way inside. I'd tear that off the house, side it with regular siding, and paint it white. Good luck and stay safe you guys!
I know that this comment is like 2 years too late but you need to paint the outside of your house with kills and then also seal it with some sort of clear coat
My top 5 ways to keep cool without an AC as desert person living 100+ summers over 30years 1. Swamp cooler its not AC, swamp coolers dont use refrigerant's. 2. A properly insulated house help's keep cool air in & hot air out. 3. Ceiling fans help with air circulation 4.wetting the soil and plants at night help keep the outside fresh. 5. Wearing breathable shoes and clothes.
What about a small swamp cooler? I used to have one decades ago when I couldn't afford an air conditioner. It doesn't use as much power as an air conditioner and you can even make one yourself.
White exterior roof and walls will help a LOT toward keeping your space cool, and keeping infrared radiation (i.e. sunlight) OUT of the space by shutting blinds down all the way and using low wattage 5500-6500k (daylight colour temperature) LEDs to light the space instead of real sunlight... Take it from me, I live in central Australia...
Just purchased let’s see if anything has changed, I’ll keep you UPDATED!
Gable vents ....
Put up mega watts of solar panels enough to run my AC 7x24 will work for me 🤣🤣
Build a big church steeple on top the roof. It will get hot up there and pull heat up and out pulling air threw the bottom.
What are you even saying? Shes gone but you’re still together? It sounds like an LLC used a lady to ruse you into cheap work
Window tint like used in cars can make a huge difference, we did ours last few months and much cooler, diy it and very cheap, keeps out the harsh UV rays too.
Random searching and found this, nice work.
Living in a hot environment like this, with minimal water for showers, how much do you spend on deodorant weekly?
not sure why you wouldn't just get some more solar panels, enough to run an AC. Sounds absolutely miserable.
Very cool!
Awesome job sir. Looks really nice. 👍
Thank you for posting.
Did you ever get one of those hats wih hanging corks to keep flies away?
I moved from the North to the South and the most important takeaway is that you acclimate to a new climate after about 6 months or so. Up north, I used to keep my AC at 68-70 in the summer. Now in the South, I keep it around 77-78 in the house in the summer, if I set it at 76 I am too cold.
Posted this comment before reading other comments thoroughly: The one thing I wish you did was to wear an N95 mask while digging out those mittens. There's all sorts of bacteria, hanta virus, and valley fever you can breathe in from the dirt and rodent dung that can make you sick. It's not always a given, but it's always a possibility.
You could just buy some more solar panels if its that bad that eoukd actually power an air con unit
What happened to your girlfriend???
You need a wind machine my friend. ie. A simple fan. Works just like the wind which drops the temperature 10 degrees instantly. Cheers!
